Uttrakhand Janmanch calls for poll boycott
The Uttarakhand Janmanch has alleged that the Election Commission has failed to prevent the misuse of money and political clout in the Tehri bypolls.It has also alleged that candidates have so far spent a total of more than Rs 15 crore in violation of the Model Code of Conduct, exhorting the public to boycott the bypoll which is being manipulated by money power. Freedom fighter and former Tehri MP Paripurnanand Painyuli said that it is time for the people of Uttarakhand to rise against corrupt politicians the way they rose against the king of Tehri in 1948, he said. The Uttarakhand Janmanch general secretary Rajen Todariya said that candidates are trying to influence voters with alcohol and money. He said that both Congress and BJP had lost their relevance. Secretary General appealed to the people to boycott the by poll . He said that it is better to boycott the election than to elect the corrupt candidate.
